About Us
Introducing our club
Mountain Pool Amateur Swimming Club has been operating since 1957.
We are based at the Mountain Pool, Cameron Street, Mount Barker.
We encourage swimmers of all ages, and currently have a squad of about 60 swimmers aged from 7 to 50+.
Our aim is to promote fitness, encourage participation in competitive swimming, celebrate achievements whether they be large or small, and to make all club-members feel part of the team.
Training
Summer (Nov to Mar) – Training is at the Mountain Pool, Monday to Friday from 6.00pm to 7.30pm, though junior swimmers (up to 12 years) often finish at 7.00pm. We also train some mornings from 6.00am to 7.00am, and some Saturdays by arrangement, depending on demand and timing of competitions.
Swimmers are encouraged to attend as many sessions as they can.
Winter (Apr to Oct) – We train at State Swim in Mount Barker, with training sessions determined at the end of summer.
Competitions
There are a range of competitions and carnivals throughout the year in which swimmers can compete (not compulsory) – these include Interclub Meets, Open Carnivals, SA Country Championships and of course the Mountain Pool Club Championship day.
The more advanced swimmers can also compete at state and national level throughout the year. Membership & Fees We are always seeking new members, and interested swimmers are encouraged to come and try for free for up to 3 sessions. You should be able to swim competently, as we provide coaching but not learn-to-swim lessons.
Our annual fees are very competitive and are charged pro-rata depending on month of joining the club. A separate fees schedule is available on request. Swimmers must also be registered with Swimming SA, and for children under 18 a parent must also register. Modest competition entry fees also apply per event.
Interested?
We are a friendly club, and welcome new members at any time of year.
